Ryan sat outside after quidditch practice, watching the golden snitch someone had lost zoom around the pitch. He sighed softly and leaned back into the grass, stifling a yawn. It had been a tiring day and it was long before he started to doze off.

Alya sighed as she moved past the other students exiting detention, slinging her backpack over her shoulder as soon as she moved away from the small crowd. School had barely started and she was already getting in trouble for starting a fight with a younger Gryffindor student. Stepping onto the staircase just as it started to move, she rolled her eyes wandered down the deserted corridor it had left her at.

The EMT looked up at Dr. Casstiel and Dr. Cliffe as his partner and one of the interns wheeled the first patient out of the ambulance, "We've got a caucasian male in his late twenties. Lacerations to the face, neck, arms and torso from broken glass. Took a blow to the head when he rammed through the windshield during a head on collision. Caucasian female, also in her late twenties has less severe injuries. Dislocated shoulder from the seatbelt and a few lacerations to the face. There may be some head trauma though because she's convinced she's a surgeon here."
 
"I am a surgeon here, dammit. A surgical intern but a damn surgeon. And that caucasian male is named Lucas Davis, he's twenty nine and he's my fiancé so stop talking about him like he's a cadaver." Georgia muttered as she stumbled out of the ambulance, slapping away Dr. Casstiel's hands when he tried to help her stand up straight. "You heard the man, less severe injuries. Now pop my shoulder back in so I can help."
 
Dr. Cliffe stared at Georgia with raised brows, eyeing her bloody and tattered dress skeptically. "You are not helping, you're getting your shoulder popped in and your face stitched and then you are going to sit in the waiting room while we do our job. Nurse Vance is here somewhere, she can keep you updated on our progress but you will not be scrubbing in on this surgery Dr. Groome, understand?"
 
Georgia scoffed and tried to push past both him and Dr. Casstiel, shaking her head. "Like hell I'll just sit around. My fiance just flew through the window of his car and you expect me to sit around and do nothing? You've lost your mind."
 
"Georgia, I know this is hard but we cannot have you scrub in on this surgery. Do you really want to see your fiance opened up in my o.r.? I don't think so. Daniel will stitch you up and someone from Ortho will come in and look at your shoulder. You weren't paged and you're injured so you are not on the clock, don't make me have you arrested just to keep you out of this surgery." Rob warned sternly, checking his watch. "The longer I wait here talking to you, the less time I spend trying to save Lucas. Now let me do my job." he nodded to the EMT and Daniel before heading back inside.
 
Georgia whimpered softly and looked up at Daniel, blinking back tears as the reality of the situation hit her. "He can't die. Do you hear me? He can't die. Please don't let him die."
 
"We'll try our best to save him, it's our job." he sighed and looked down at her, leading her into the ER to stitch the cuts on her forehead and cheek.
 
Eva had come down at some point in the night, serving as the liaison between the surgery and Georgia. A little under six hours after the surgery had begun, she returned with Dr. Casstiel and Dr. Cliffe behind her.
 
"Don't say anything. Please, just don't say anything." Georgia whispered as soon as she noted the glum expression on their faces.
 
Dr. Casstiel sighed lightly and took a step forward, removing his surgical cap. "We did what we could. The impact caused traumatic injury to both his cerebral cortex and his brainstem. There's a chance he'll come out of the coma but we have to be realistic about it."
 
Georgia nodded and stood up, smoothing out her dress. "I-I have to make some calls. I'll see you at home Eva." she mumbled quietly before excusing her self.

Cass sat in the middle of Mark's bed, cracking her fingers nervously as she stared down at what she hoped was a bag full of powdered sugar or flour or some other white powdery substance that wasn't as bad as what her initial thought had been. Mark had been gone for a little over an hour, excusing himself in the middle of their movie night to run a quick 'work' errand. She hadn't thought anything of it at first, but as it got later she began to worry and decided to call him. She'd noticed the bag on his bed when she went into his room for her phone, confused about it's contents until all of the secret calls and late night errands clicked in her head. She sighed and looked down at the bag again, cringing at the thought of what Mark actually did for a living. Ignoring her better judgment that was telling her to leave immediately, she stayed put and tried to call him for the fifth time, throwing her phone across the bed when it went directly to voicemail.
